Amelio Services Line Station 5 of 5: How to get Started
Here is how to begin services with Amelio Services, step by step.
Most people start with a short note to Amelio Services. You never have to know everything first. Amelio Services, your service coordinator and your Independent Facilitator (if you have one) will help with each step.
Starting with Amelio Services usually takes these steps.
Some steps happen at the same time. The order can change a little for each person.
Check that SDP is right for you.
The services Amelio Services offers are paid through California's Self-Determination Program (SDP). If you are not in SDP yet, Station 2 shows the steps to join. You can also take the SDP check-in.
Send Amelio Services a note.
Use the postcard below or write to admin@amelioservices.com. Amelio Services replies within 2 business days.
Have a get-to-know-you conversation.
This free, no-pressure talk covers your goals, your interests, the days and times you want, and the rate ($45 per hour). Family, friends or your Independent Facilitator are welcome to join.
Add Amelio Services to your spending plan.
With your Independent Facilitator or service coordinator, add Community Living Supports (320) and/or Community Integration Supports (331) to your SDP spending plan. Your regional center certifies the plan.
Finish the paperwork with your FMS.
Amelio Services signs a written agreement with the agreed services, schedule and rate. Your Financial Management Service (FMS) sets up payment, and your Amelio Services provider's background check is cleared through your FMS before support starts.
Meet your Amelio Services provider and set up your dashboard.
You meet your provider first. Together you set up your private dashboard with your profile, calendar and the tools you want.
Start, and keep shaping your support.
Sessions follow your plan. You can change the schedule, the goals or your provider at any time, and you can stop at any time.
Not in SDP yet?
If you get services from a regional center, you can ask to join the Self-Determination Program. Station 2 walks through the steps, and the SDP checklist (PDF) keeps them in one place. At the Regional Center of Orange County, the SDP team is at (714) 796-3760.

Please do not send medical records, diagnoses, Social Security numbers or your UCI number through the website. Amelio Services will ask for what is needed in a private way, and you can talk about private things in person.
It helps to have these nearby for your first conversation.
- A few things you would like to do, learn or change. Your own words are perfect.
- The days and times that work for you.
- The names of your service coordinator, Independent Facilitator (if you have one) and FMS.
- Your current IPP goals, if you have a copy.
- Anything that helps you feel comfortable, such as a support person or a quiet place to talk.
These people can help you get started.
